In the amendments, the county adopts Appendix J as part of the code. Montgomery County, MD, County Code 08.00.02.03. Section 101.1. Appendix J provides guidance on existing buildings.

Montgomery County, MD, adopted the 2012 editions of the IBC, the IECC, the IFGC, the IMC, and the IRC with amendments necessary to achieve uniformity and consistency with Maryland and Montgomery County laws and ordinances, as well as department/division policies and procedures. Where this regulation differs from the Montgomery County Fire Safety Code it does not preempt or negate any more restrictive provisions of that code.
